Did you know that we lose more young adult drivers per year than the number of soldiers fallen to date in the Iraq war?

Over 6,000 young adults lose their lives in auto accidents each year in the U.S.

Street Defensive Driving, in conjunction with the court system, is committed to making our roadways safer in Mississippi. Students receive both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training on the following topics:

integrity.jpgVEHICLE INTEGRITY
Students are given hands-on instruction on how to check fluid levels / tire pressure and how to change a flat tire properly.

distraction.jpgDANGERS OF DISTRACTION
Students are shown how cell phones, multiple occupants, loud music and other distractions can be dangerous.

recovery.jpgOFF-ROAD RECOVERY
Students learn how to avoid over-correction.  Leaving the pavement leads to more deaths among young adult drivers than any other hazard.

CLEARING INTERSECTIONS
Students are taught the proper procedure to follow when approaching an intersection and how to know when it is safe to proceed.

backing.jpgBACKING
Young drivers are shown how to use mirrors properly and have a “4-Corner Consciousness” when backing.

ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE
Evasive lane change and controlled braking are just two of the skills covered in this topic.

In addition to classroom illustration, students are given Fatal Vision Goggles to illustrate how difficult driving is when only one sense is impaired.
